Damn happy.

Booked my air ticket from Vientiane – KL on 1st Jan 2007! Which means I would be spending 9 days in Laos!

Excitement and nothing but that :D

good riddance to bad intentions

Posted in everyday life on November 27, 2007 by scorpieme

Annoyance has gotten the best of me lately. All the politics, the backstabbing, the rumors spreading, the bad intentions. I know what is happening, and I refuse to play whatsoever, whosoever’s game. I am gonna stay put, take up the challenge and do my best with whatsoever knowledge I have.

I know I can’t change the world and what others think of the world. But I can certainly change the way I view the world and try to make the best out of it. I don’t believe that everybody’s experience should be the same. Someone else’s shit might be another person’s good fortune. We don’t know for sure. Nothing is be certain. Except C.H.A.N.G.E. And I for sure, is gonna make the BEST out of it.

This world is full of sick, distorted people. People who feeds on ‘poison’ like gossiping, spreading rumors, telling lies, and whatever shit for their advantage. Why? Because it makes them feels empowered. It makes them feel like they are in control. I know that, because I grew up being surrounded by people like that. It’s never difficult for me to spot one. Because sometimes, I am one of them too and that makes me sick to the core.

But we can always prevent ourselves from falling deeper and deeper into the trap. How? By asking -> What is my intention. Is it pure? Or is it evil?

I don’t agree with how people around me thinks sometimes. And I wished that we all have a recorder to rewind the distortion of our speeches.

I know that everything happened for a good reason. And I am not afraid anymore as long as my intentions are good.

Pulau Ketam

Posted in everyday life on November 25, 2007 by scorpieme

I am sooooooo tired :(
Got back from Pulau Ketam, tanned like charcoal with a mild headache due to the heat.

Didn’t managed to take nice shots because by the time I arrived at Pulau Ketam, it was already close to 12 noon. With the sun tailing me and the heat and all, I didn’t have the mood to take pictures and it all came out crappy. Sucks…

Anyway, the journey to Pulau Ketam was a total roller coaster ride. I left the apartment at about 7am, due to the road blocks caused by the Hindraf’s march to the British High Commission* the cab driver had to make a bloody detour and had me paying double the cab fare. Not to mention, I got off at the wrong train station (Klang instead of Perlabuhan Klang) and had to wait another 20 mins for the train to arrive.

When I reached Perlabuhan Klang, it was already 10am. The ferry took off at 10.30am and reached Pulau Ketam at 11.30am. Sadly, the surrounding wasn’t a pretty sight. Instead of crystal clear/emerald green sea water (like Pulau Pangkor), Pulau Ketam’s was brownish, dirty and smelly. This is all due to lack of proper piping system on the island. Every thing goes to the sea. Period.

I was surprise to see the amount of tourist on the island! Most of them come from mainland (Klang) and handful of foreigners. (Funny, this is not listed on LP is it?) There are a few hotels on the island, being the prominent one’s near the jetty is Sea Lion Hotel. There are no cars and motorbikes on the island, the only way of transportation is bicycle and there are plenty to rent at RM4 per hour. And if you rent for 3 hours, you get a discount of RM2.

So I cycled around the island, and got excited with the choice of paint the locals use to paint their houses. There were bright purple, yellow, green and blue houses all build on tall pillars. But most of the time, I was disgusted at the amount of ‘rubbish’ that goes under the houses.

Ask me if I will visit again – Sure! But my recommendation is to stay over on Friday night to catch the sunset and sun rise and to take nice pictures before 12noon! (Aivee, Remi when???)

gr8 day

Posted in everyday life on November 24, 2007 by scorpieme

I had a great day thus far!

Actually ‘the great day’ started on Friday night at the blind massage center in Brickfields :) Had all my pressure point massaged by aunty yoke kam. Unlike the uncomfortable-unbearable-silence-issue I have with some of the therapist, aunty yoke kam feels like family. Never fail to amazed me with her excitement when it comes to travel and the huge Korean pear and chocolates she shoved in my bag.

I like her…she is one of those people who are genuinely kind at heart. So pure and so real that it lightens my heart every time I see her. God bless her soul!

*************
Woke up a little bit too early this morning and headed straight to MF. Gotta finish my last treatment and get it over with. After treatment, one of the consultant tried to persuade me to sign up for another program which I flatly declined. Not that the program is bad, simply because I don’t like the consultants. Fucking bitches. They are so damned pretentious with their mega watt smile with not even an ounce of sincerity I find in them.

My heart just can’t stand people like that you know. People who aren’t real. People with ulterior motives.

THEN, watched The Kingdom - an utterly provocative movie. It really brought an insight of what the world is today, on terrorism and the conflict between the US and Middle East. The movie is so intense it would make your quiver with fear thinking if terrorism ever set foot in this country.

Peter Berg did a great job in telling a story from the middle eastern point of view. Being an Arab faced with accusation of being a terrorist (because of some bad hats) is not by choice. It’s just not right to get carried away(no thanks to the idiot box) by discriminating them and the religion…

After the movie, I took Jema to Titiwangsa Lake Gardens to catch the tallest portable observation wheel in South-East Asia!

Love the day! And tomorrow…I going to have a helluva adventure with Jema at Pulau Ketam!

Day 3 – From Butterworth to Bangkok (part 1)

Posted in everyday life on November 23, 2007 by scorpieme

I reached Butterworth’s train station a tad too early for my 2.20pm train to Bangkok. Actually, 2 hours early to be exact! haha…

To my surprise, Butterworth station was really small, the no frills kinda station you know. There is not even a cafe/mamak for me to ‘lepak’.

After a long wait, the train finally arrived! I’m not sure how to react towards what I see. After all it’s my first time on sleeper train :p
I was a bit disappointed during the ride from Butterworth to Padang Besar because I thought we all have the seats exclusively to ourselves instead of having to share our seats with passengers they picked up along the way. But since we only have 2 cars from Butterworth to Padang Besar, it’s quite inhuman to not share our seats and lets others stand right? So, I did shared my seat. And glared disgustedly at the other Chinese family that refused to share. Sorry to say this, but deep down, I know they are just being racist.

Anyway I befriended 3 siblings who was on their way to Bangkok and sorta ‘hung out’ with them :) Nice people. Which I later on gave them my Bangkok guide book because they seemed so young and I didn’t want them to get ‘bullied’ by the big city.

In all, the train was was quite an experience. Especially when street vendors in Thailand came on board to sell us food :) And oh, Thai people seemed to love giving me free food! hehe…

Thanks Mayte for the free coffee, tea and delicious padthai, the fruit seller who gave me 1 free pineapple, 1 free papaya when I only paid 40baht for my 2 pineapple. Also the canteen worker who let me stepped down the train when I got so excited when we reached Hua Hin station :p

In the train canteen. Azlina sitting beside the window.

In the train. Sleeping time.

so right, so wrong

There is a saying in Chinese that human by nature are kind hearted. While agreeing to that, I can’t deny that human by nature are also evil. It’s not me being cynical, it’s probably how the universe works anyway. A balance of good and evil, yin and yang…that sorta thing.

But having said that, it doesn’t mean that it’s OK to have ill intentions to hurt others. Remember, we are also governed by ‘what goes around, comes around’. A lot of times, we don’t realize that what we are today, it the consequences of what we did yesterday. Good or bad alike.

We are all that delusional. There is always a constant need to feed the ego, always justifying…to be RIGHT all the time. But what’s the big deal anyway? To be wrong and not right sometimes?

So, stop it. Just stop trying to be right all the time.

Life is no longer mundane with Jema :D

Jema. Is what I affectionately call my new friend hehe!

I have this habit of naming things I own. It all started with my iBook – Macxine, then my Motorola V3 – Annie and my plant – Sebastian! Everything seems to come to life when it’s given a name. There is this ability to feel connected I supposed.

The name ‘Jema’ comes from 2 souls who has left the physical world. Both were very close friends of mine who fought and demonstrated a lot of courage and strength to live.

Their passing has always been a constant reminder…that we don’t live forever and we certainly don’t have a clue if we get to wake up and see another day. But the least we can do, is to take good care of ourselves and stop taking each breath we have for granted.

my hometown

Posted in everyday life on November 19, 2007 by scorpieme

Had a great weekend at back in Batu Pahat. Although I initially planned to go on a short trip on my birthday, I realize now that there is no where that I rather be this year, at home, with family.

I can’t believe how much BP has changed and flourished! We even have Marie France, Dermalogical, HSBC bank, Genki sushi, Pizza Hut, Old Town Coffee, Vinci (!), specialty stores and many more! But what hasn’t changed though, is that the cost of living which is still relatively low. I can’t believe eye brow reshaping is still priced at RM5! A professional haircut priced at RM25 and I could get a pair of sandals similar to the likes of Top Shop for RM20+

If I could earn the same amount of what I am earning in KL here in BP, I really wouldn’t mind coming back for good! I would be super duper rich! Because an average person(middle class) in BP earns about RM2k!

Bloody tempting!
