counting down…

Posted in everyday life on April 27, 2008 by scorpieme

Counting down to set foot in Jogja in 2 days time! Woo hoo!

Among the countries I have visited, I must say Jogja remains my top favorite! There are so many things that I love about Jogja! From batik arts/craft to their street food. Not forgetting the friendly locals – it’s so easy to make friends in Jogja!

I am sure my visit to jogja this time would be more meaningful considering the fact that I would be there for work purposes -to fill in the missing details in my Jogja travel guide. So we’ll be expecting a lot of food sampling, club hopping, sight seeing etc :D

Speaking of friends, Safia and Karott (the French backpackers) are back in Asia! And we might meet up in Thailand this July :D

Until then…I’ll continue day dreaming.

Boss is officially off for a 2 week holiday in Paris, leaving me a to-do-list of 22 items. Sigh! Though she said she will be checking and responding to emails but I’ll try not to disturb her. It’s a drag you know,to have to respond to office emails when you’re on holiday!

Fab left for god-knows-where on Thursday. He was back for only 2 days and I already couldn’t stand him. Everything just didn’t feel right and he irritates the hell out of me. I knew things are not ever gonna work between us – we are too different. So he had to go. But it’s easier for both of us because we both know what we don’t want.

Had a farewell party for Jan and Simon yesterday at Aloha. I hope they are making the right decision to join ex boss in xxx bank. Hey, like I always say, everyone’s experience differs from one another. What doesn’t work for me, might work for others. I wish them all the best.

30th April is just around the corner! Can’t wait to set foot in Jogja again! Woo hoo!

connected again

Woke up this morning with only one thing in mind. Must MUST subscribe to Maxis Broadband today. No but, ifs or maybe. Just MUST!

So at 9am, I happily made my way to Maxis Center at KLCC, excited about my soon-to-be-able to get online anywhere, anytime, 24/7. Only to find out that I’ve been blacklisted by DiGi(since 2002) and could not subscribe to Maxis Broadband!

I tried to recall if I ever had a DiGi postpaid number…happened that I did – during my first couple of years of working. But surely, I couldn’t have conveniently forgotten to pay my phone bills…Unless it was a HUGE amount and I couldn’t afford to pay and hope that someday someone will accidentally erase my billing record.

More worried than anything else, I head over to the nearest DiGi Centre and somehow kept getting a hunch that the total bill was gonna skyrocket to RM500 plus. Silly me, I even withdraw RM500 for standby!

After a long wait behind the counter – some checking and more checking, DiGi then conclude that someone has forgotten to remove me from the blacklist after the last payment was made in 2003.

Hallelujah!

So I got my release form, rushed to Maxis and voila! Got my Maxis Broadband! :D

It’s amazing how this little thing work! I totally LOVE it!

done with guidebook, it’s time for FUN!

Finally, the Yogyarkata travel guide is done. Although there might be changes later after vet through but AT LAST it’s done! Phew. Oh boy, can’t wait to reap the reward later! USD0.50 for each travel guide sold. Shiok! (If anyone of you is going to Cambodia and need a travel guide, head over to www.a4trip.com. The travel guide is selling for USD2.95 only!)

Great! Now that I am done with the travel guide, I have one less thing to worry about and can start planning for my Yogyarkata trip in April, Bangkok trip in July and Vietnam trip in Sept! haha…It’s great that my dad no longer stop me from all these traveling. Thanks to my aunt, she actually gave dad a lecture about him not being supportive of my travels. It’s great when you have aunts with “gweilo’ mentality haha…

Other than that, looking forward to a short trip to Bagan Lalang this weekend with a bunch of friends whom I have not met for ages!

*********
On a separate note, I can’t help thinking that a person’s maturity and wisdom does come with age. People who said that age is just a number is bullshitting under broad daylight. Age is Not just a number. It’s the life experiences that one accumulates throughout the years. I mean, a 3 year old wouldn’t know much about the world right? All they know at age 3 would be throwing tantrums to get what they want, eat, sleep, play, cry. That’s it. How mature and wise can a 3 year old be?

When I was in my teens and 20s, I used to tell myself that life is gonna be great after 30. I didn’t understood if there was any truth for saying that, but it does felt like life was gonna be great after 30.

Now at the age of 31, I finally realized. Life is good because I’ve learned how to live it, which otherwise would not be accomplished if I hadn’t lived my 20s.

I just need to pen it down that at this point of my life, I am grateful to have lived 31 years. And I hope that I will have many more good years to come and many more ‘teachers’ in life to learn and unlearn the true meaning of LIFE.

red to brown

Crap…my freshly dyed hair has turned into an uninteresting shade of DARK BROWN! I am so going back to the saloon and get another dye! They better not charge me a single cent for this.

red came too soon

Remember I said I wanted to dye my hair red and take a year off backpacking around the world? Well, yesterday…the dying part came a wee bit early.

OH YES…I dyed my hair red. Not orange, not brown but RED! And to top it up, the celeb hairstylist Azainuddin gave me the Victoria Beckham cut that Yer used to give me sometime back. In fact, I think he did it better than Yer! I totally love it because it made me feel so rebellious haha. Dunno how the bank’s gonna react to the color though…coz as far as I know, I haven’t seen any color redder than mine!

Saw a great movie today – ‘Definitely Maybe’. I am not gonna do a movie review here simply because I am not good at it :p But lets just say that its a story everyone of us can relate to when it comes to a relationship between 2 people. Many sometimes we are just too afraid to trust the universe and go with the flow. I know I used to be one of the them. Anyway, that’s some ancient story that’s not worth mentioning :p

Oh! Fab called today. And he will be back next weekend for a week before he goes back to Brisbane. Can’t wait to see him again :)

weekend come quick

Posted in everyday life on April 10, 2008 by scorpieme

For the past few weeks, I’ve been craving to indulge on a weekend getaway. And every time, the thought of checking into a cheap motel in Petaling Street never fail to entice me. Well, it seems like fun, to photograph Petaling Street from dusk to dawn. Picture black and white…ought to be perfect!

Anyway, I’ve booked my flight to Bangkok in July. Haven’t got the slightest idea yet why I choose Bangkok instead of Ho Chi Minh or any other places that I’ve never been before. I suppose it’s the familiarity that I am craving. Reminds me of the encounter with the Thai lady at the Airport Information Counter some time back. When I told her it wasn’t my first visit to Thailand, she said with a pleasing smile “Oh! Welcome Home!” Cliche I know, but that kinda ’surprisingly’ made me feel at home in a foreign land! Despite how I sometimes hate how we foreigners are being treated like cash cows, the Thais really know how to make you love them.

Other than that, September will be another month for traveling. This time, with mom and dad to Hanoi – which I intend to make it a yearly affair. The traveling part I mean.
Traveling with mom and dad makes me feel like a grown up. It feels like our roles has been reversed and I can’t help but feel how ‘fragile’ mom and dad is…OH, perhaps I’m just being sensitive!

Anyway…darn! It’s 11pm already and there goes my plan to continue my Jogja travel guide :S Nemind, there is still tomorrow….tomorrow, must finish it tomorrow…

oh god I’m having a headache. Can I not go to work tomorrow?

anything and everything

Posted in everyday life on April 8, 2008 by scorpieme

Ok I am going to book my July trip tonite! Gulp… I don’t know why am I hesitating since I already told my boss my travel plan which cannot be altered due to my ahem…zodiac predictions haha…

Perhaps it’s the stress…she’s taking a 2 week break to visit her hubby in Europe and told me I will be standing in for her when she is away. Huh? Me? I hope she is joking. I know nuts about operations and merchant business! Not to mention all the nightmare/fire fighting I had to do with the IT department :(
Oh shit…

On a different note, remember the agency who didn’t understand the brief? I can’t believe how stupid they are. Judging from their stupidity, I doubt they even read the brief! Apparently, they went to our Group Corporate Comm. and made a big fuss about us(Tech bank) issuing a brief for re-branding. They were so certain that since they are the appointed agency to re-brand RHB Group, they should secure all work pertaining to re-branding.

My goodness! But the brief that I issued is not a advertising brief! It’s a marketing strategy brief! I need an agency to propose/run marketing campaign so that we can retain and acquire more customers. And at the same time, help re-brand Internet Banking and Self Service Terminals by giving it a tagline! Which doesn’t interfere with the Group re-branding exercise at all. Geez…

And so, I had to print the brief and explained it to our ‘friends’ in Group Corporate Comm. before the fuss got all the way up to CEO. LUCKILY they understood the brief and agreed it’s a mis-understanding from the agency. And I even got the green light to carry on with the pitch!

omg…these people reminds me of ‘lebai’. They are like…totally from a different planet or something.
